UV Purification for Liquid Sugar/Syrup Storage
American Ultraviolet Company manufactures a variety of UV purification systems for sugar/syrup storage. We provide storage tank conditioners, blowers, vents and accessories. American Ultraviolet Company's approach to sugar/syrup storage purification applications creates a total ultraviolet germicidal system. Our conditioners provide filtered air 99.97% free of mold and yeast spores, pathogenic organisms and radioactive, toxic and ordinary dusts.
UV Sterile Conditioning Systems
American Ultraviolet Absolute Sterile Conditioners provide filtered air 99.97% free of mold and yeast spores and air 99.97% free of pathogenic organisms and radioactive, toxic or ordinary dusts. Most yeast and mold spores are 0.5 microns or larger. Absolute (HEPA) filters, which are components of American Ultraviolet Absolute Sterile Conditioners, are 99.97% efficient in removing particles down to 0.3 microns.
These liquid sugar/syrup tank sterile conditioners prevent formation of condensate dropules that cause dilution of liquid sugar surface and the resulting low-density brix that provides the perfect medium for development of yeast and mold.
American Ultraviolet systems also ensure a full supply of sterilized air during product dropout. Custom-designed systems for larger air flows are available.
Model LTC-2-AB/10
Designed for installation on larger
tanks or where higher ultraviolet intensities are required,
this system provides approximately 30 CFM to the tank.
It is constructed of 304 stainless steel and incorporates
two high-output slimline ultraviolet lamps, 10"
x 10" x 6" absolute (HEPA) filter and two
electrostatic pre-filters. The standard tank connection
is the three-inch PVC IPS threaded female coupling.
Three- and four-inch, tri-clamp or other connections
are available at a slightly higher cost. Although designed
to mount on top of the tank, the system can be installed
in an adjoining alcove and connected to the tank via
piping.
Dimensions: 38"L x 20"H x 12"W
Power: 118 Volts/60 HZ, 1.69 Amps
Model SC-4-AB/14
Designed with an absolute (HEPA) filter, pre-filters, additional ultraviolet lamps and a pressure blower system, this unit is designed for ground-level installation for ease of maintenance. It provides a minimum of 60 CFM of sterilized air to liquid sugar storage tanks from a ground installation. It delivers 150 CFM when installed directly to tank. The air is pulled through the prefilters and HEPA filter and into a chamber containing four high-intensity ultraviolet lamps. Sterilized air is discharged through a 4" outlet port that can be connected to ductwork. Extra ductwork to the tank will affect the actual CFM delivered. American Ultraviolet's engineering department will advise your exact blower requirements prior to your installation.
Tank Blower and Tank Vents
Model LTC-1-P, LTC-2-P, LTX-10-P
These 304 stainless steel systems have the same configuration
as the absolute versions but incorporate only single,
10" x 10" x 1" PLIOTRON® washable
electrostatic filters. The filters have a washable membrane
that filters down to 10 microns. These systems are designed
for use in extremely clean atmospheres. All dimensions
and fittings are the same as the larger systems.
The Tank Blower provides up to 55 CFM of filtered air for venting sugar and syrup tanks. All construction is 304 stainless steel. The blower fits the 3" male nipple* on the tank and comes complete with a 6' service cord and plug.
Overall height: 15" blower motor: 118
Volts /60 HZ 0.42 Amps
The Tank Vent is a companion unit for LTC-1-P, LTC-2-P and LTX-10-P units. It is similar in configuration to the standard tank blower but without the blower and motor and fits the 3" male nipple* on the tank. Construction is 304 stainless steel.
Overall height: 15"
*Optional 3" and 4" tri-clamp fittings are available for an additional cost.
Models LTX-10-AB and LTX-14-AB
These tank vents are designed as companion units for American Ultraviolet Absolute Sterile Conditioners or Absolute Tank Blowers or to be used by themselves as a tank vent. They incorporate absolute HEPA and pre-filters and are attached to the tank via a 3" female threaded PVC or a 3" or 4" tri-clamp fitting. They prevent head air space contamination when product dropout creates reverse air flow through the vent. The LTX-10 requires 15" clearance; the LTX-14 needs 22." All vents are constructed of 304 stainless steel.
Internal Tank Fixtures with Built-in "Tube Guard"
Designed for mounting inside the liquid sugar tank to control yeast, mold and bacteria, these fixtures are constructed of brushed aluminum with a spectral reflector for maximum ultraviolet intensity. Each lamp is equipped with a Type SL/HV Tube Guard that advises if the UV lamp is electrically operating. Two sizes and lengths are available for various tank sizes.
Model
STG-36
This fixture incorporates one GML005 lamp and one Type
SL/HV Tube Guard. UV intensity is 13.6 watts.
Model
STG-36-2
Using two GML005 lamps producing 27.6 UV watts, this
fixture includes two Type SL/HV Tube Guards that can
be mounted anywhere in the plant.
Model
STG-10-SL
Shortest of all internal tank fixtures, the STG-10-SL
is only 17" long. It produces 5.3 UV watts from
one GML060 UV lamp. It includes one Type SL/HV Tube
Guard.

For many years the food service industry has requested but has never been able to get shatterproof lamps for their ultraviolet sterilization fixtures.
In an effort to accommodate the needs of the food service industry as well as many other industries, American Ultraviolet Co. has researched and located a coating that can be placed on virtually any T5 germicidal lamp, making the lamp shatterproof.
One of the biggest obstacles was the transmission of the 254 nm wavelength required for proper UV sterilization. American Ultraviolet has overcome this problem, and while there is a minimal reduction (approximately 15%) in the UV output of the lamp, we believe the advantages far outweigh this nominal reduction in UV energy.
Now our customers can utilize the fixtures they already have in place and at the same time make those lamps shatterproof. In addition, we have found that this coating allows the 185 nm (ozone-producing wavelength) to pass through, meaning that customers utilizing "ozone-producing" lamps can also experience the peace of mind provided by shatterproof lamps.
The following pictures show the possibilities of utilizing these shatterproof lamps.
